How to get to Knysna
on the Garden Route in South Africa
On the Garden Route the nearest domestic airport
to the Knysna National Lake Area is at George, a distance of only 70 km. The major domestic airline
companies in South Africa operate a number of daily flights between George and the International
airports at Johannesburg and Cape Town.
All the major car hire companies have offices at the George Airport and there are specialised
companies in Knysna that provide airport transfers.

Located in the middle of the famous garden coastal route, one of the most beautiful scenic routes in the world,
Knysna is easily accessible from Cape Town (about 500 km) and Port Elizabeth (about 270 km). The roads are
very good, making road travel amidst all that great scenery an absolute pleasure.
The major bus companies serve Knysna on their route between Cape Town to Port Elizabeth. The Baz Bus, favored
by backpackers, stops there too
