A large and luxurious rest camp, nestling amidst spectacular granite outcrops in the southwest of the Kruger National Park, only 9km from Numbi gate. Pretoriuskop rest camp is the oldest of all the Kruger National Park camps, the first rest camp to be opened to visitors. It is named after Willem Pretorius, a member of "Voortrekker" Carl Trichardt's 1848 expedition to Delagoa Bay, who was buried at a nearby "kopje" (hill).

Next to the customary guided game drives and walks, you can enjoy several historic places in and around Pretoriuskop rest camp, such as the original transport riders’ route called the Voortrekker road, the birthplace of Jock of the Bushveld, and the Albasini ruins. Tsendze camp offers accommodation in the form of caravan and camping sites only. The area is known as the Mooiplaas Ranger Section, which has two seasonal water courses running through it, attracting large herds of Buffalo and Elephants.

Bushveld camps are smaller and off the beaten track, providing exclusivity and remoteness, thereby ensuring an intimate and private safari holiday experience. Access to all bushveld camps is restricted to overnight visitors with reserved accommodation.

Whilst these Kruger National Park camps do not represent the luxury of the private reserves in and around the Kruger, they all have a unique African bushveld ambiance. You have to go to the nearest Main rest camp to stock up if you run out of food, booze or other supplies.

Electrical equipment, such as hair dryers, cannot be used except at Biyamiti and Bateleur. Open verandas often serve as kitchen/dining room. All units have private ablution facilities, a refrigerator, cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery and a stove, either a two-plate stove without an oven or a four-plate stove with an oven in the larger units.

Placed amidst a setting of rich riverine plant life such as Natal Mahogany and Jackalberry trees, Roodewal Bush Lodge can be found 44km to the north of Satara rest camp, on the banks of the Timbavati river, in the Kruger National Park. It is administered from Olifants rest camp. Able to accommodate up to 19 people, the Lodge has to be booked en bloc as a whole.

The unique quality of this Lodge compared to many of the other Kruger National Park camps, is due to the extreme privacy of each individual sleeping unit, making it ideal for celebration parties, corporate think-tanks and small intimate wedding parties. Another special feature is the private viewing deck, built on stilts and overlooking the Timbavati River. One of the most beautiful seasonal rivers in the Kruger National Park, the Timbavati river offers outstanding game viewing along its banks.
